St. Barbara Medal in 14KT Yellow Gold #8018

This engravable, round St. Barbara Medal is fashioned from 14K gold and depicts the saint holding a sword and a chalice. She stands in front of a tower which represents the tower in which she was imprisoned.  The background is matte-finished, the border of the medal is polished.  The outer border reads, "Saint Barbara Pray for Us".  Available in two sizes: 15 and 18mm.  Packaged in our velvet gift box.  Add optional engraving to this order.

St Barbara was born sometime in the 3rd century in the city of Nikomedia. She was executed for her Christian faith by her own father who was immediately struck by lightning and killed. Consequently, St. Barbara's help is sought for protection from fire and lightning. She is the patroness of artillery soldiers and miners. Her feast day is celebrated on December 4. St. Barbara's relics are on permanent display at the St. Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Bloomingdale, Illinois.
